What to expect:

First visit: History and examination

Your first visit will consist of a discussion with you about your health and reasons for seeking chiropractic care.  You will be asked for information, not just about the pain or complaint that may have brought you to the clinic, but also about your past health history, your work environment, activity levels, diet and stress levels.

Your chiropractor will then commence an examination on you that concentrates on your posture and neuromusculoskeletal system (nerves, muscles and joints).

After the initial consultation and examination, your chiropractor may offer treatment almost immediately or it may be delayed if further information is required.  Before starting treatment you will have a report of findings where you will be informed of the examination findings, have any questions answered and be given treatment recommendations if appropriate.  Treatment options will be based on the nature and severity of your condition, how long you’ve suffered, the likelihood of recurrence, your treatment goals and what advice you should follow.  A large part of getting better is up to you, so please follow any instructions and advice carefully and completely.  It is also usual for people who have had serious injuries and long-term problems due to wear and tear to the joints to be advised of the need for ongoing supportive care, this is normal practice in Chiropractic care.

You will be given options of Chiropractic care whether you want short-term relief or lifetime wellness care to support you and your family to achieve your individual health goals:

1. Pain relief – to free you of pain

2. Corrective care – to keep you out of pain

3. Wellness care – to help you reach your optimum health potential

Your treatment is tailored to you based on your age, condition, medical history and your personal preference.

Treatment mainly involves safe, gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other related areas that are not moving properly. Most often, this requires a short thrust to a joint that can result in an audible 'pop' and may bring relief of symptoms; some patients report an immediate increased feeling of well-being. The 'pop' is simply the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released. There is however, no instant cure and some patients may experience temporary symptoms such as pain or soreness around the areas being treated. We also use soft tissue techniques, myofascial dry needling (medical acupuncture), cranial work and activator use.

Exercises, stretches, massage, posture and general well-being advice will usually be given.  Remember, the more you do to help yourself the quicker you will improve and get well.

We provide high quality care and work to keep this care affordable.
